Canada upset COOL not adressed in Farm Bill

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced that it will hold a hearing on February 18 and 19 regarding Canada and Mexico’s case against the USDA’s country-of-origin labeling (COOL) program. Canada has stated its strong disappointment in Congress’ failure to address COOL in the farm bill.  Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and International Trade Minister Ed Fast, in a joint statement said, “We remain steadfast in taking whatever steps may be necessary, including retaliation to achieve a fair resolution.”
