National Hog Farmer

If you have a thirst for knowledge of the expanded Veterinary Feed Directives that when into effect on Jan. 1, there is no shortage of information. Most of that information is right at your fingertips.

Though the Food and Drug Administration’s new rules have been in effect for almost two months, producers, veterinarians and feed mill operators may still be looking for some answers to all of their questions.

National Pork Board and National Hog Farmer cooperatively brought the industry a webinar – How to Succeed with the New Antibiotic Regulations. If you missed that Feb. 21 webinar live, you can catch the replay of those presentations by NPB’s Dave Pyburn, National Pork Producers Council’s Liz Wagstrom and Harry Snelson from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians. Complete with the question-and-answer session moderated by National Hog Farmer’s Cheryl Day, the archived version can be accessed here

If you can’t get enough of webinars, there will be another next week, live from the National Pork Industry Forum in Atlanta. NPB will again facilitate this conversation about antibiotic stewardship.

The March 1, 2-2:30 p.m. EST “Real Change: a Live Discussion of On-Farm Antibiotic Use” webinar will be hosted by Phil Lempert, The Supermarket Guru, with a panel discussion of John Johnson, NPB chief operating officer; Brad and Peggy Greenway, South Dakota Pig Farmers and America’s Pig Farmer of the Year; Michelle Sprague, director of Sow Health with AMVC Veterinary Services; and Rick Stein, vice president of Fresh Foods, Food Marketing Institute.

Participants can tune in live by clicking here.

If you don’t want to sit through the replay of the hour-plus Feb. 21 webinar, or don’t want to wait for the March 1 webinar, National Pork Board has loads of antibiotic information available to help producers adjust to the new antibiotic regulations, and resources to assist them to achieve responsible antibiotic use on their farm. NPB’s Antibiotics Resource Center has all you need to know to be compliant with new Veterinary Feed Directive and prescription changes for water-based antibiotics that went into effect on Jan. 1.

You can’t say that you didn’t have opportunities to learn about the new antibiotic regulations. Maybe you just didn’t know where to look. Now you’ve got it all at your fingertips.
