Senate Farm Bill Introduced

Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, has officially introduced S. 3240, the Senate Agriculture Committee passed farm bill.  The “Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2012” saves $23 billion over the life of the bill.

A number of southern Senators still have major concerns with the commodity title of the bill.  The Senate Agriculture Committee passed the bill on a strong bipartisan vote on April 26. Indications are the Senate will consider the bill in early June.
