Record income and revenue for ag co-ops

The USDA announced U.S. agricultural cooperatives posted record net income ($6.5 billion) and revenue ($246.7 billion) in 2014. This was a 16.5% increase in net income and 0.4% increase in revenue compared to 2013.

The total number of agricultural cooperatives decreased by nearly 4% in 2014, down from 2,186 to 2,106. The five largest co-ops are CHS Inc., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; Dairy Farmers of America, Kansas City, Mo.; Land O’Lakes, St. Paul, Minn.; GROWMARK Inc., Bloomington, Ill.; and Ag Processing Inc., Omaha, Neb.
