Federal Court Upholds E-15 Decision

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied a request by food and oil groups to reconsider an earlier decision upholding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to allow for the gasoline blend of E-15.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied a request by food and oil groups to reconsider an earlier decision upholding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to allow for the gasoline blend of E-15. The Grocery Manufacturers Association and the American Petroleum Institute (API) requested a rehearing after the U.S. Court of Appeals last August backed EPA’s approval of E-15. API said they were disappointed in the decision and will review their options. Growth Energy, which represents ethanol producers, said, “This is a major victory for the renewable fuels industry and opens the door for further investment in new fueling technology to offer E15 to consumers.”
