Farm Bill Conference to Begin

The first meeting of the House-Senate farm bill conference committee will be Oct. 30.  It is expected that Wednesday’s session will include opening statements by the 41 members of the conference. 

Committee staff continues to meet in preparation for the conference.  There are major issues that will need to be resolved by the conference, such as the level of cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), crop insurance – conservation compliance and means testing, dairy, commodities, etc.
