Election Year Shakeup

The Republicans in the House of Representatives found themselves in turmoil last week after the unexpected defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) in last week’s Virginia Republican primary.  Cantor was defeated by Tea Party backed candidate Dave Brat, who claimed Cantor was not conservative enough.  After the election, Cantor announced he was stepping down as House Majority Leader effective July 31.  The House Republican Caucus will select a new Majority Leader this week.
