Great way to start the day

The sun may not be shining outside, but the Son was shining inside during the Praise Breakfast to kick off today’s events at the annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians.

Regardless of your denomination of faith, all with the common bond of working in the swine industry gathered for song, fellowship and testimony. Bill, a swine veterinarian from Oklahoma shared a leap of that he and his wife will be taking on this year as they enter a three-year commitment to serve Southeast Asia through Christian Veterinary Mission. CVM was started in 1976 by Leroy Dorminy who felt veterinarians could have an impact by integrating their faith with their profession in communities around the world.

Bill and his wife, Angie, also a veterinarian, will be taking their daughter and son along for this experience of a lifetime. Bill shared that he feels his family’s decision on the CVM path has been paved by the Lord.

David Baum, swine veterinarian from Iowa, shared his testimony of faith, as it was severely tested in the wake of losing his wife to cancer. Though he felt alone in the initial days following the memorial service for his wife, he realizes now that it was only a test by the Lord.

David and Bill’s family, and all of us really, are walking a path that the Lord has already determined for us, and we will all be tested along the way.

The Praise Breakfast was a good way to start the day, any day, and to unite those in attendance of the unified involvement in the swine industry, veterinarians in charge of the care of the porcine of God’s creatures. It was moving as we all stood to sing, “Blessed Be Your Name.”

Indeed, we are all blessed by the Lord.
